Police harassing my son: Partap Singh
Our Correspondent

Sirsa, March 28
Mr Partap Singh, father of Ravi Chautala, ex-MLA, who is a brother of Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, here yesterday called in question the role of the Dabwali police in the recently registered case against his son. Speaking in his son’s defence, he alleged that the popularity of Ravi Chautala was not liked by the ruling government. He is being implicated in false cases to weaken him politically.

Showing newspaper clippings on the recent episode, he tried to expose the police. He said that Amarjeet Singh, on whose complaint, the Dabwali police had registered the case against Ravi Chautala had also levelled a similar charge against the Dabwali police and had complained to the Punjab Chief Minister, the DGP, the Punjab and the Haryana High Court and the Human Rights Commission of Punjab. In these complaints a reference had also been made to an ASI and some other persons close to the ruling government. This incident reportedly happened on March 3 in Dumwali, Punjab.

Mr Partap Singh expressed surprise at Amarjeet voicing accusations against the Punjab Police for robbing him of his car, but not reporting to the Dabwali police about this matter that day. After 20 days the Dabwali police hurriedly registered a case on the complaint of this man against Ravi Chautala and made raids at his Dabwali and Chautala houses to arrest him. All this exposed the police, he added. Mr Partap said he would soon meet the Governor and the PM in this connection.

HIGH COURT
Salary arrears
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, March 28
After considering the claim of an employee for promotion from back date as justified, there is no reason for denying the arrears of salary, a Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has held in a significant judgement.

In a ruling on a petition filed by Ram Singh and others against the state of Haryana, the Bench, comprising Mr Justice V.M. Jain and Mr Justice Viney Mittal, observed: “When the respondent authorities themselves considered the claim of the petitioners for promotion from an earlier date as justified, then there was absolutely no reason to deny them the arrears”.

Allowing the petition, the Judges also directed the state and the other respondents to release the arrears of salary to all the petitioners, along with all consequential benefits from the date of their promotion. The Judges also quashed the “stipulation in an order whereby it was maintained that the petitioner would not be entitled to the arrears”.

Mr Ram Kumar and the other petitioner were initially appointed as clerks in Department of Technical Education. They were later regularised and promoted as Assistants.

Pinjore, March 28
Haryana Tourism is going all out to attract tourists to Yadvindra Gardens here by creating an amusement park and developing the historic Bhima Devi temple near the gardens.

Sources in the Tourism Department said the amusement park would be created on approximately 3 acres on one side of the gardens near the newly constructed site museum.

The project, to be built at a cost of Rs 3 crore, had been allotted to High Point Amusement Park Private Limited.

Mrs Navraj Sandhu, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism, confirmed that the work on the park would begin this week and it would be thrown open to tourists before May.

The tourist flow to the gardens had been adversely affected since the mini-zoo here was closed down three years ago.

The park would connect the gardens with the site museum and the Bhima Devi temple. A number of statues and other artifacts excavated from the temple site would be displayed here.

The museum was likely to be opened to the public within a couple of months.

Earlier, the state Wildlife Department had proposed to set up an aviary of international standards here.

However, because of paucity of funds and the Supreme Court coming down heavily on the state Wildlife Department, the proposal had been shelved.
