Collectorate employees go on three-day strike
Dehradun, November 6 Rajender Kumar, president of the association, said: “The organisation has been fighting on these issues for many years. A few years ago, the officials concerned had approved our demands, but no government order was issued. I am surprised that the state government, which does not hesitate in issuing government orders on petty issues, is not deciding anything on our demands”. He said the appointment to the post of naib tehsildar should be made from the senior most and capable employees of the Collectorate. He stressed the need to adopt a similar method for the selection of chief administrative officers. “Against the 32 posts of chief administrative officers, there are only 13 officers in the state, The rest of the posts are lying vacant. If the state government gives promotion to senior employees, then the work will progress smoothly”. “The structure of the Collectorate was shaped up decades ago. There is an urgent need to restructure it as per the requirements of the present times. Besides, the names of a few posts are required to be changed. The term typist is no longer used and has been replaced with data entry operator,” he added. He said similarly, the term tele-printer had become outdated. But such terminologies with regard to positions were still in use in Collectorate offices and must be changed. He said the members of the association would take a final decision on the issue at a meeting on November 20. Main demands
* Promotion to naib tehsildar and chief administrative officer *

Dehradun, November 6 The police is still not anywhere close to identify or nab the culprits. Recently, burglars struck at Doiwala, Vikasnagar and Patelnagar and took away cash and valuables worth lakh of rupees. Dehradun SP City, Jagdish Chandra, told The Tribune, “Four teams have been deployed, including one team of the special operation group (SOG), which are working in tandem to solve the cases and it seems that some group was involved in all the burglaries.” Notably, after linking the information about their language, modus operandi, and their looks, the police has come to a conclusion that members of the same group were committing the burglaries.
