Youth found dead in his shop

Hoshiarpur, May 16
Gurnam Singh (20), son of Tarsem Singh of Kalra village, was found dead in his shop at Garhdiwala town yesterday.

According to the police, Gurnam Singh, who was running a readymade garments shop, had been missing since May 13. He left his house for shop at about 9:30 am on the fateful day after saying that he would not return in the evening as he was going somewhere. When he did not return, his family tried to contact him on his mobile phone, but it was switched off.

Yesterday, some shopkeepers, sensing foul play informed the police and his family members. When his shop was opened, he was found dead.

Suicide

Kiran Kumari (17), daughter of Surjit Singh of Passi Kandi, committed suicide by jumping into Pandav Sarovar, Dasuya, 40 km from here, today.


EARLIER STORIES

On receiving the information the police got her body fished out from the pond. Kiran was studying in Mother Teresa Computer Centre, Dasuya. The police has registered a case.

Robbers held

The Mahilpur police last night raided near T-point, Bharta-Sakruli road and arrested Dilbag Singh, alias Baggo of Bahadurpur, Tarlochan Singh, alias Sunny of Pahari Gate, Hariana, Charanjit Singh, alias Chani of Lehlan and Gurinder Singh, alias Ginda of Ludhiani, who were assembled there to commit a robbery.
