Inspector assault case: 65-yr-old held in Bhargo Camp 

Jalandhar, May 9
The Bhargo Camp police today arrested a 65-year-old man accused in the assault on inspector Dharamvir on April 20 last month. 

Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP-West) Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu said Charandass, alias Channa, a factory worker, was arrested from the Pathankot bypass last night and produced in court today.

This is the second arrest in the case in which a mob of residents had attacked the then SHO Cantonment who had gone to meet a woman in the Bhargo Camp colony. 

There are 14 accused in the case, of whom 12 are still at large, the police said. The Bhargo Camp police had added Section 308 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) in the case.

Sexual assault on speech impaired girl

The Division Number 5 police has arrested an autorickshaw driver for an alleged sexual assault on a six-year-old speech impaired girl late last night near Dal Dal Chowk here. The mother of the girl, Shanti Devi, a resident of Gumme di Khuhi, said she had gone to Sabzi Mandi last evening when she left her daughter in the autorickshaw before fetching vegetables. 

The 30-year-old accused, Phool Chand, was arrested today. A case was registered against him under Section 354 A (i) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).— TNS
