Eve-teasing costs man his life in Hoshiarpur village

Hoshiarpur, April 5
A 27-year-old man lost his life at Dugri village today for teasing a woman. Police sources said Raj Kumari, wife of Kuldip Singh of village Dugri, was returning home after dropping her children at the local bus stop. While on way to her house, Lakhbir Singh of the same village allegedly teased her. Raj Kumari narrated the incident to her husband Kuldip Singh after reaching her house. Her husband went to Lakhbir Singh and picked up a quarrel with him. Kuldip stabbed him in the chest with a screwdriver as a result of which the latter died on the spot. Dasuya SHO Onkar Singh said the police had started a probe in the case. A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered in this regard.

Joga Sandhu is Dist Bar Assn president

Joga Singh Sandhu has been elected the president of the District Bar Association (DBA), the election to which was held here on Friday.Sandhu got 83 votes defeating his rival Baldev Singh Gill by 20 votes. Gaurav Chopra and Gurwinder Singh Kang have been elected secretary and vice-president of the DBA respectively. Mohinder Pal Arora was elected the joint secretary unopposed.
