Farmers’ body holds protest

The Zamhoori Kisan Sabha (ZKS), Punjab, organised a dharna in front of the office of the Deputy Chief Engineer, Powercom, regarding the current demands of farmers today. The workers of the ZKS had come here to present a memorandum of their demands to the Powercom officials but were prevented from entering the office. Due to the protest, normal traffic remained disrupted for hours. Dr Satnam Singh Ajnala, state president of the ZKS, while addressing the workers condemned the police for preventing them from presenting a memorandum of their demands to the officials.

Mystery surrounds Vinod Kumar's death (30), who died at Guru Nanak Hospital, Amritsar, last evening . The was a resident of Amritsar. Vinod was injured under mysterious circumstances near Bhikhiwind township on March 29 and was admitted to a Amritsar hospital. He succumbed to his injuries last evening . The Bhikhiwind police has registered a case under Section 304 A, 279, 337 of the IPC against the driver of some unidentified vehicle .

Farmers’ body holds protest

The Zamhoori Kisan Sabha (ZKS), Punjab, organised a dharna in front of the office of the Deputy Chief Engineer, Powercom, regarding the current demands of farmers today.

The workers of the ZKS had come here to present a memorandum of their demands to the Powercom officials but were prevented from entering the office. Due to the protest, normal traffic remained disrupted for hours .

Dr Satnam Singh Ajnala, state president of the ZKS, while addressing the workers condemned the police for preventing them from presenting a memorandum of their demands to the officials.

The dharna was lifted only when the police officials arranged their meeting with the Powercom authorities.

The next date for discussion on the demands has been fixed to April 17, said Dr Ajnala.

Dr Ajnala said the organisation was demanding for the innovation of the power supply system by removing old cables and tightening the baggy wires.

The kisan organisation in a resolution, which was passed on the occasion, has demanded a judicial probe into the Jeobala episode, in which an ASI died in a controversy with farmers. A case under Sections 302, 201 of the IPC had been registered against the farmers in that case .

Rattan Singh Randhawa , state leader of theThe Zamhoori Kisan Sabha , highlighted the problems faced by farmers in the border areas of the state .

Paramjit Singh, ASI , said the victim, along with his associate Shabbu, also a resident of Amritsar, had met with an accident near Bhikhiwind .

The same time, Aman, the deceased's wife, was suspicious of the incident . She in her statement to the police said Shabbu was neither telling about the site of the accident nor was giving information about the vehicle responsible for the accident . — OC
