Unidentified body found in village

Phagwara, March 24
An unidentified body of a middle-aged man was found from a drain in the nearby Dosanjh-Khurad village last night. It was suspected that the victim was murdered and thrown in the drain by some unknown miscreants, the police said. The body was sent to Phillaur Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. The police has registered a case.

Robber arrested

The Goraya police nabbed a robber, identified as Davinder Kumar of Ludhiana, along with a snatched bag containing Rs 88,000. The miscreant was fleeing with the bag snatched from a migrant labourer, who had gone to deposit the amount in a branch of the State Bank of Patiala in Goraya last afternoon. The accused met him and offered him to fill the deposit form, but as the victim was signing on the form, the accused snatched the bag and ran away.The victim raised an alarm and the police, with the cooperation of the people, nabbed the accused who was arrested by the police.

Pistol, earrings seized

The Apra police arrested three armed robbers, identified as Aladin of Mahilpur and two brothers Ravi Kumar and Jiwan Kumar, of Langeri village and recovered a country-made pistol and gold earrings from their possession. The earrings were snatched by the accused from a village woman Darshan Kaur recently, the police said.

Attacked

Two unidentified car-borne armed assailants attacked and wounded a mobile shop owner Kush Kalra in his shop on the Phagwara-Hoshiarpur road late last night.The injured was admitted to the local Civil Hospital. The accused decamped with Rs 8,000, the police said.
