Finally, revised policy on unauthorised colonies ready

After much dilly-dallying and dragging its feet to come out with a simple and realistic policy on unauthorised colonies, the Punjab Government is learnt to have prepared a revised policy for the purpose. A formal announcement is expected soon.
City records 29 mm of rainfall

The city witnessed a dip in the temperature following heavy rain last night. The city received 29 mm of rainfall last night.
According to the Met Department of Punjab Agricultural University, the city receives an average rainfall of 26 mm in March.

70-year-old man ends his life

A 70-year-old man committed suicide at the Papeeta market in the Salem Tabri area here this morning. The victim has been identified as Preetam Singh. According to the police, Preetam Singh hanged himself from the hook of a ceiling fan in his son's shop.

Think twice before answering to any such mail as this mail is not from the department but from cyber criminals who are sending mails posing as Income Tax Department officials.
Civic body postpones demolition drives

The two demolition drives scheduled for next week have now been postponed.
These drives are being carried on the orders of Punjab and Haryana High Court, which, in civil writ petition 4559 of 2007, had directed the MC to clear all violations (encroachments), which have come up after year 1995 and are within five metres or 16.5 feet from the scheduled roads.

BSP protests against abolition of SC/ST posts

Minor accuses youth of rape
