HUJI militant killed in J&K

Two persons, including a militant of Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI), were killed and two others injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.

HUJI militant killed in J&K

Srinagar, January 8
Two persons, including a militant of Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HUJI), were killed and two others injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.

The HUJI militant was killed in an encounter with a joint search party of the Army and police at Kukar Dandoo village in Doda district last night, the spokesman said.

An AK rifle, two magazines, 20 rounds and a bag were recovered from him, he said.

The police recovered the body of an unidentified person from Kashdoora village of Shopian in Pulwama district this afternoon, the spokesman said, adding that the identity and cause of his death were being ascertained.

Two persons were injured when militants fired at a van carrying five persons in the Reasi belt of Udhampur district last night, the spokesman said.

A Maruti van, returning from Shivkhori cave shrine, was fired upon by militants at Tanwa, around 12 km from Reasi, in the district last night, he said, adding that two youths were injured in the firing and three others escaped unhurt.

The injured were shifted to a hospital and a hunt launched to nab militants involved in the attack, the spokesman said. — PTI

Leopard kills youth

Jammu, January 8
In the second attack in less than a fortnight, a leopard killed a youth in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said today.

A youth, Subash Chand, who had gone to graze the cattle in the Ganya area of Nowshera border tehsil in Rajouri district last evening, was attacked and killed by a leopard, sources said.

His half eaten body was recovered today, they said, adding this was the second leopard attack in less than a fortnight in the Nowshera belt where the animal killed two persons, they said.

The latest attack has created an atmosphere of fear among the people. — PTI
