Severe cold wave conditions are prevailing in parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab besides west Rajasthan. Cold wave conditions are prevailing in parts of east Rajasthan also.

Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures changed little. Departure: This was markedly below normal in Haryana, Punjab and west Rajasthan, appreciably below normal in Uttar Pradesh, below normal in east Rajasthan and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 2.9°C recorded at Churu (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 10: Rain/snow is likely at a few places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Uttaranchal. Weather will be mainly dry in the rest of the region.

Low temperature warning: Ground frost is likely at a few places in Haryana, Punjab, west Rajasthan and east Uttar Pradesh during the next two nights.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 10: Severe cold wave conditions are prevailing in Delhi. Mainly clear sky. Mist in the morning. The minimum temperature will be around 3°C.

Outlook for the subsequent two days: No large change.
