Burning
of wheat stubble hazardous to environment

Various parts of Punjab and Haryana
are enveloped in darkness after mid-day these days as farmers set their
harvested wheat fields aflame in the afternoon to burn the residue. As a
result, the area turns smoky, affecting visibility to a great extent. It
also causes irritation in the eyes, making driving difficult as roads in
the countryside turn hazy because of smoke factor.

Nanak Girls College students fare well in exams
Ludhiana, May 12
Most of the students of BCA-III
of Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana, secured above 65
per cent marks. Three students got above 75 per cent while 11 students
secured above 70 per cent. Harinder Kaur stood first in the college by
securing 76.4 per cent marks (1825/2400), Smriti Jain second with
75.79 per cent marks (1819/2400) and Gurvinder Kaur third with 75.62
per cent marks (1815/2400).
