polls send sensex nosediving
Mumbai, April 27
In a knee-jerk reaction to the exit
poll results that indicated a hung Parliament, share prices, across the
board crashed at the local bourses today, with bulls running for cover and
pulling down the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensex by a whopping 213.30 points
— its biggest single day losses in three years — to 5712.28 points.

Govt can regulate fees in Delhi private schools: SC

The Supreme Court, in an important
judgement, today said that the government had power to regulate the
fee in unaided private schools and rejected an appeal by several
public schools in the Capital challenging a Delhi High Court order in
this regard.

Maqbool Dar escapes bid on life in
Pulwama
Srinagar, April 27
In stepped up attacks in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls in Anantnag constituency on may 5, militants today made an abortive bid on the life of former Union Minister and Independent candidate Mohammad Maqbool Dar by firing on his motorcade in Pulwama district of Kashmir.

Eight persons, including seven
members of a family from Chandigarh, were killed on the spot while three
others were injured when their Qualis reportedly collided with a truck
near Mehlan village, about 10 km from here.

the exit poll predictions of a hung Lok Sabha and a depleted strength
for the NDA, the BJP today asserted that the NDA alliance would secure a
“comfortable majority” and there was no need for it to even think of

magistrate against President Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Chief Justice of
