43 Iraqis killed near Najaf

Baghdad, April 27
Forty-three Iraqis were killed in fierce fighting with US-led coalition forces near Najaf, a military spokeswoman said today.

“Forty-three anti-coalition forces were killed and an anti-coalition anti-aircraft system was destroyed” by an AC-130 aircraft, the spokeswoman said of the clashes at about 2315 IST yesterday. — AFP
