New Delhi, April 27
The Election Commission today ordered transfer of five officials from Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency from where the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav is contesting.

The poll panel asked the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary to transfer Deputy District Collector of Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency S R Yadav and five police officials after receiving complaints against them.

In a communication to the UP Government, the commission also directed the transfer of Firozabad Additional Superintendent of Police and three police officials.

The commission said these officials should not be put on any election-related duty.

The polling in these two Lok Sabha seats would be held on May 5.

The commission also ordered immediate transfer of District Magistrate of Mahasamund in Chhattisgarh from where former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi is pitted against BJP nominee V.C. Shukla.

The District Magistrate of the high-profile constituency was understood to have conducted an exit poll, prompting the commission to seek a report on the incident.

The commission had yesterday said that it had received a report on this issue.

Meanwhile, the commission had sought a report from the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu on a complaint filed by the Tamil films superstar Ranjikant.

The film star had urged the poll panel to take strong action against the PMK leader, Dr S Ramadoss, and party cadre for attacking his fans.

The complaint alleged that PMK followers had attacked his followers with lathis, axes and sticks at a public meeting at Madurai on April 2.
