Dreaded terrorist Rattandeep in custody of UT police
Chandigarh, November 5
Fifteen years after a bomb blast in Sector 34, the UT police today procured the production warrants of dreaded terrorist Rattandeep Singh and brought him to Chandigarh from the custody of the Punjab Police. He was produced in court and remanded in police custody for eight days where sleuths of the operation cell will interrogate him. After he was arrested by the Punjab Police on September 18, the Chandiagrh Police had moved a request seeking the custody of top terrorist Rattandeep Singh.

Man strangles wife to death, ends his life
Chandigarh, November 5
A file photo of Sandeep and his wife Shalu A 30-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan after allegedly strangling his wife to death at their residence in Ramdarbar this morning. Shalu (27) was found dead in her room while her husband, Sandeep Kumar (30), a driver, was found hanging in the other room. The police said the incident came to light at around 6 am when the couple did not respond after being called out by family members. The family raised the alarm following which local residents gathered there.

PGI OPDs closed today
All OPDs in the PGI will remain closed on Thursday on account of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, a gazetted holiday. Emergency services will, however, function as usual.

Charges framed against head constable
Chandigarh, November 5
The CBI court today framed charges of corruption against a head constable with the UT traffic police who was caught while taking a bribe of Rs 1,500 near the PGI on July 17. The court framed charges against head constable Dalbir Singh who was arrested while taking the bribe from the president of a local auto-rickshaw union as part of his “monthly bribe” for not challaning members of the union.

Trial proceedings in Bhola drug case not held, next hearing on Nov 20

Following directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC), the trial proceeding against drug lord Jagdish Bhola, Jagjit Singh Chahal and Paramjit Singh Pamma in the infamous drug scam could not take place in the Mohali district court today.
