At least 40 office-bearers of the Ludhiana District Congress Committee today tendered their resignations to the party President Sonia Gandhi, protesting against the "arbitrary and uncalled for" expulsion of the former district president Pawan Dewan and four block presidents.

2 years on, LIT residential plots elude 114 allottees
Ludhiana, November 5
The wait for allottees of 114 residential plots, measuring 125 square yards each at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Colony, developed by the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT), seems unending. Even after more than two years after the draw of lots were conducted to finalise the allotment, physical possession of the plots have not been given to them as the resolution (no. 59) adopted by the LIT in this regard in October 2013, is yet to be approved by the state government.

An illegal structure was demolished by the building branch, Zone D, at Model Town here today. The ATP concerned, SS Bindra, said a structure raised by Friends Medical Hall was demolished as it was being constructed in violation of the building bylaws.

Patient needs help

Krishna, a seven-year-old child, admitted to the CMCH needs financial help. He was admitted to the hospital on October 27 after he was diagnosed with severe dengue, shock, respiratory failure, pulmonary haemorrhage and acute kidney injury. He requires further hospitalisation and ventilator support.

Meeting held
Ludhiana: A meeting was organised by the United Cycle Parts Manufacturers’ Association (UCPMA) on Tuesday under the leadership of Charanjit Singh Vishivkarma (president), along with office-bearers Inderjit Singh Navyug (Senior Vice-President), Pradeep Wadhwan, Ajit Kumar, Achhru Ram Gupta, etc, to discuss the new notification of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited.

6 test positive for dengue
Six more patients have tested positive for dengue, out of which four belong to Ludhiana district and two to Hoshiarpur. A man aged 35 years from the Rahon Road area is under treatment at Oswal Hospital. A 31-year-old man from Haibowal Khurd, 40-year-old man from New Basant Vihar and another man (18) from Rishi Nagar are under treatment at the DMCH, Ludhiana. Two men from Hoshiarpur, aged 52, are under treatment at the CMCH, Ludhiana. The total number of dengue patients from Ludhiana has reached 156, out of which 114 belonged to Ludhiana, 36 to other districts and six to other states.

Miscreants ransack shop, set it afire

About six Scorpio vehicle-borne unidentified persons ransacked an electronics shop and set it on fire. They also tried to burn alive the shop owner, Vijay Kumar, at Apra village of the Phillaur sub-division today.
