300 participants come out in vehicles to scorch city roads

Participants at the opening ceremony of the Chandigarh Treasure League in Chandigarh on Sunday The Chandigarh Treasure League’s (CTL) third edition got off to a colourful start today. The event got underway with the release of sky lanterns and an Army band. Around 300 participants representing 100 teams came out in their vehicles to scorch the Chandigarh roads.

Infant dies at PGI, kin create ruckus
Chandigarh, October 12
A three-day old infant died at the PGIMER here today. Enraged over the death, parents and relatives of the baby, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), in the Advanced Paediatric Centre (APC), created a ruckus in the area and tried to manhandle the treating doctor.

Businessman booked on charge of slapping grandmother

A car that was damaged after it turned turtle at the Sector 20/30 light point in Chandigarh late on Sunday evening. The occupants of the car had a providential escape In a shocking incident, a city-based businessman allegedly slapped his over 80-year-old grandmother here at Sector 21 on October 5. Giving details, sources in the police said that 27-year-old Vikramjit Singh and his grandmother Rajinder Kaur stay in the same house on different floors in Sector 21.

Constable Ramesh wins CRPF half marathon

As part of its diamond jubilee celebrations, the Central Reserve Police Force organised the Run For Unity half marathon in the city today, in which people for the armed forces, para-military organisations, sportspersons and the general public participated. The run was flagged off from the Sukhna Lake by the CRPF Inspector General, North-West Sector, Suraj Bhan Kajal. Balbir Singh Senior, triple Olympic hockey gold medalist was the chief guest on the occasion.
