Abohar
Rs 90-lakh liquor seized:
The Rajasthan Police on Sunday seized whisky worth around Rs 90 lakh from a truck at a naka near Birmi Khalsa village. The vehicle had reportedly been loaded in Khanna. The police said 900 cartons of whisky had been concealed under 40 bags of cattle feed in the truck. Driver Sonu Khatri of Sarhadpura village (Fatehgarh Sahib) and cleaner Karamjit Singh of Bijlipura village (Samrala) have  been arrested.

Body found: The body of Yashoda Devi (55) of Subhash Nagar was found at the tail-end of canal system near Usmankhera village on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road on Sunday. She had been reported as missing on Saturday. The police have shifted the body to Civil Hospital here for a postmortem.

Faridkot
Minor escapes from juvenile home
: A 15-year-old inmate, allegedly involved in drug smuggling, escaped from a juvenile home here on Sunday. A resident of Sher Khan Wala village in Mansa district, the minor was arrested by the police three days ago. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against him at Boha police station. The teenager was brought to the juvenile home in Faridkot on Saturday. He escaped from the Civil Hospital where he was taken after he complained of uneasiness.

Hoshiarpur
Trainee naval officer cremated:Trainee naval officer Satvir Singh, who was the youngest NDA cadet selected in 2011, was cremated here on Sunday. He was electrocuted three days ago during training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala in Kerala. Hundreds of people attended the funeral. Shishir Kumar from INA accompanied the body. He said a board of inquiry was formed to find out the reasons behind his death. MLA Sunder Sham Arora and Tikshan Sud, Political Advisor to the CM, were also present at the cremation ground.

Workshop marks World Sight Day
: World Sight Day was observed by organising a workshop at the local Civil Hospital here on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Medical Superintendent Bipin Thakur said the day raised awareness about blindness and vision impairment, as well as provision of eye health care. He said among the causes of blindness, many were curable if proper detection was done in time and added that while cataract was the most common cause. He said with regular check-ups, maintenance of good health, a balanced diet and use of spectacles, good vision could be maintained.

KULLU
Nigerian national held with cocaine
: A Nigerian national, Yusuff Shola Dwolabi, was arrested with 40 gm of cocaine at a police check post in Bajaura, 13 km from here, on Saturday. The police said the accused was travelling in a luxury bus, going from Manali to Delhi. SP Surinder Verma said a case under Section 21, NDPS Act, and Section 14, Foreigner Act, had been registered and the embassy concerned informed. The accused was produced in court on Sunday and had been remanded in three-day police custody, the SP added.

Two nabbed with 3 kg charas: SP Surinder Verma said the police had seized 3.325 kg charas and nabbed two persons in separate incidents on Friday. He said Gian Chand (30) of Banjar was arrested with 3.110 kg charas at Bhumia in the Banjar valley. In another incident, Musaf Kumar of Kunoor district in Kerala was arrested with 215 gm charas at the police check-post set up at Bajaura. He was travelling by a Delux bus and was en route to Delhi from Manali. The SP said two cases under had been registered.
