Abohar
Two killed in mishaps
:
Ganesh of Sayeedwala village was run over by a passenger train near Model Town here on Thursday. The Government Railway Police with the assistance of Manav Sewa Samiti took the body to a hospital for a postmortem. In another mishap, Kala Singh of Moga died when his harvester combine overturned near Alamgarh village, 4 km from here, on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road.

3 drug peddlers arrested: Three persons, including a woman, were held for allegedly smuggling 66 kg poppy husk here on Thursday. The accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The accused have been identified as Jas Singh, Gopi Ram of Hansalwala village (Ferozepur), and Bimla Devi of Paliwala village in Jalalabad.

Two held for murder: The Hanumangarh town police have arrested Sushil Meghwal (20) of Kohlan village and Darshan Bhat (21) of Meethi Suresh village (Ellenabad) for allegedly killing a sage. The police said the duo attacked Ramdev Nayak (60) on Tibbi Road on Sunday night.

Muktsar
Dhillon’s term extended
: The state government has extended SAD's Gidderbaha constituency in charge Hardeep Singh alias Dimpy Dhillon's term as the chairman of District Planning Board, Muktsar. Dimpy's term has been extended by another year. He is a confidant of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
