Setback to prosecution in rape case
Chandigarh, September 29
In yet another setback to the prosecution in the Khuda Lahora rape case involving five UT police constables as the accused, the forensic report in the case has revealed that the DNA samples of the accused do not match with the samples obtained from the victim at the time of the registration of the case. The report prepared by the Central Forensic Scientific Laboratory (CFSL) was placed before the court today during the resumed hearing of the case and taken on record.

Poor quality of food, stay during study tour
Civic body stops part payment to travel agency
Chandigarh, September 29
Following the controversy surrounding the study tour, the MC has stopped a part payment of Rs 8 lakh to the tour operator. Some councillors had submitted a written complaint against the poor quality of food and stay during the study tour.

The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Anshu Shukla today acquitted a student in a case of rape after the prosecution failed to prove the charges. The court acquitted Ishaan Bhardawaj, a Sector 20 resident of the charges of rape under section 376 of the IPC.

Woman gets life term for husband’s murder

In the infamous ‘chipkali kaand’ (lizard case), the Mohali District Courts convicted the accused Manpreet Kaur guilty of her husband’s murder and pronounced life term to her. Her sister, Baljit Kaur, the co-accused in the case, has been acquitted by the court.
