Train runs over farmer:A farmer was run over by the Delhi-Sriganganagar superfast train near Abohar on Wednesday night. Vinod Kumar of Dhaani Sucha Singh village was walking on the railway line as the regular passage was inundated.

Rs 45 lakh for Lahori Gate:Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday sanctioned Rs 70 lakh for the restoration and conservation of the historic Lahori Gate and Delhi Gate of the famous Qila Sarai in Sultanpur Lodhi near here. A spokesperson said Badal had recently deputed a team of cultural affairs to visit the site for assessing the damage caused due to recent rain. The team sought Rs 45 lakh for the conservation of crumbled Lahori Gate and Rs 25 lakh for the preservation of Delhi Gate.
Body to be sent back to Doha:Having dispatched a wrong body to the family of deceased Harjeet Singh at Mohalla Sangran in
Adampur, near Jalandhar, officials of the Qatar embassy on Thursday came to take the coffin back. The embassy officials met Deputy Commissioner Kamal Kishore Yadav and took his permission to take the body, which had been kept at the Civil Hospital since Wednesday.

Smack seized:The staff of Patiala Central Jail seized 40 gm smack from an undertrial on Thursday when he returned after attending a hearing in a district court. Jagjit. 2 killed in accident:Two youths were killed when the car in which they were travelling was hit by a truck on the Sangrur-Sunam road, near Kularan village, about 7 km from
Sangrur, on Wednesday night. The deceased were identified as Gamdoor Gir (21) and Paramvir Singh (22) of Uppli village, near
Sangrur. The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident. The police have registered a case and taken the truck in their possession.
