SC rejects Golf Club’s plea

The Supreme Court today refused to entertain a petition filed by the Chandigarh Golf Club challenging the demand notice of the UT Administration for the payment of Rs 8.59 crore as rent lease arrears for the past six years.

Husband, paramour get life term
Chandigarh, August 29
Holding that the convicts in the Pooja murder case deserved exemplary and stringent punishment, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Anshu Shukla today sentenced the victim’s husband, Vajinder Paul, and his paramour Renu Bains to life imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 70,000 each on the convicts.

Over 60 diarrhoea cases reported from P’kula
