Yograj, 4 others held for clash
Panchkula, August 25
Yograj Singh, a former cricketer-turned-actor, was arrested along with his friend Bhupinder Singh for alleged trespass and criminal intimidation during a clash with a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Chandigarh police and his two sons in Sector 2 late last night.

Major relief for building owners
Chandigarh, August 25
Providing a major relief to building owners in the city, the UT Administration has proposed to reduce the penalty for misuse of buildings and violation of building bylaws from Rs 500 per sq yard per month to Rs 210 per sq yard per month.

Girl student dies in road mishap
Mohali, August 25
After the tragic death of three students of the Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran, in a car-bus accident late on Friday night, an 18-year-old girl student of the same college lost her life today in another road accident on the Banur-Landran highway near Tangori village here.

UT police to conduct detailed study of spot
Chandigarh, August 25
Two days after the gruesome accident at the Sector 45/46/49/50 intersection between a Volvo bus and a Swift car which claimed five lives, the UT police is conducting a comprehensive study of the accident spot and contemplating 24-hour night patrolling at the traffic intersection.

Finance Secretary asks DC to consider revising collector rates
