Sting operation shows plot to attack Kejriwal; AAP wants police probe
New Delhi, August 23 However, the party rejected the need for security for the former Delhi Chief Minister saying the real issue is "political hatred". Delhi state unit convener Ashutosh met the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police, Deepak Mishra, this afternoon and handed over a copy of the CD of the sting operation which shows the BJP MLA in conversation with a few aides discussing about a purported attack on the AAP chief in Kirari. Jha could not be reached for comment despite several attempts. On the basis of the video clips, the AAP also alleged that the attack on the former Delhi Chief Minister in April by an auto driver during campaigning in Kirari before the Lok Sabha elections was orchestrated by the BJP. Ashutosh maintained that the apprehensions of his party since March-April this year, when in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls the former Delhi Chief Minister was attacked a number of times in Delhi and other parts of the country, stand vindicated with the latest sting operation. "The videos show that those involved and BJP MLA Anil Jha's role is suspect and needs to be enquired. I have spoken to the Delhi Police Commissioner and submitted a memorandum to the Special Commissioner of Police Deepak Mishra. The police have assured the party of looking into the matter," said Ashustosh. |

It was an Accent car that was involved in the accident. The occupants of the car had left it on the spot and managed to flee under the darkness. Students' clash rocks JNU campus as polls near
New Delhi, August 23 The matter was highlighted by the BJP-leaning Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) which after protesting outside the Vasant Kunj police station last night today initiated a campaign against the AISA activists in the hostels of JNU where they reached out to students in the messes during the night. The incident in which two cross-FIRs have been lodged by the rival students' factions occurred when the General Body Meeting of the School of Languages (SL) for voting on the annual report to be presented by the school convener was under way. Both the sides accuse each other of assaulting their activists in the last night incident. "I was managing the counting at the School of Languages during the GBM and we won when the NSUI activist (name withheld) outside the gate attacked three of our activists of School of Social Sciences. Later, chaos broke out. She had been personally targeting AISA activists and during the previous night abused me and my fellow activists at the SSS GBM," said Sandeep Saurav, JNUSU general secretary. On the other side, while the NSUI student could not be reached, ABVP's probable JNUSU presidential nominee Sourabh Kumar condemned the AISA for allegedly manhandling NSUI students during the last night's GBM while alleging that AISA's action was owing to the defeat of its annual report in two schools earlier. "We want the administration to take strong action against the AISA and suspend them with immediate effect. We have asked the police to arrest the AISA students involved in the incident," he said. As confirmed by the Vasant Kunj police station, cross-FIRs have been registered. |
