BJP leader says party to submit ‘chargesheet’ of Cong failure to Prez
Tribune News Service

Kurukshetra June 22
BJP state chief Ram Bilas Sharma on Sunday said the bank accounts of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Robert Vadra and some others would be scanned if the BJP was voted to power in the Assembly elections.

Speaking at the two-day BJP state executive, Sharma said, “While the financial condition of the common man has worsened, these people have earned a lot over the last 10 years.” He said they were preparing a “chargesheet” with details of 10 years of failures and scams under the incumbent government and they would approach President Pranab Mukherjee with the “chargesheet”.

“All sections of society were exploited in the 10-year Hooda regime. The government will be remembered for property dealing by government functionaries, depriving farmers of their land and extending benefits to corporates. The state government has failed on every front. Corruption is rampant; there is no law and order in the state and no job guarantee. The BJP would take on the Hooda government on all these issues, including incidents such as Mirchpur and Apna Ghar,” said Sharma.

A meeting of the nine-member ‘Aarop Patra Samiti’ that is preparing the chargesheet has been called in Panchkula on Tuesday.

Criticising the HJC, Ram Bilas Sharma said, “The HJC has already started its campaign while the final decision over the future of alliance is yet be taken. They are accusing the BJP of damaging ties, but it seems the HJC’s old love for the Congress has been rekindled. We have not crossed our limits yet.”

There is no danger yet, as this region is less affected, but petrol prices may increase,” he said.

Decision on shifting site for NPCIL colony likely soon
Sushil Manav
Tribune News Service

Sirsa, June 22
The proposed residential colony of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) is likely to be shifted from its present site near Badopal village in the wake of opposition from animal rights activists. They have been protesting against any construction activity on the land inhabited by blackbucks, neel gais and other wildlife animals. The district authorities in Fatehabad have sent a proposal to the state government suggesting it to shift the colony from its present site.

Fatehabad Deputy Commissioner Dusmanta Kumar Bahera stated this today while addressing a function organised by the Paryavaran and Jeev Raksha Bishnoi Sabha, Haryana. He flagged off the district’s first animal ambulance launched with the efforts of the sabha.

He said the district administration’s proposal was being considered by the state government and a final decision to shift the colony was likely to be taken soon.

The NPCIL is coming up with a 2800-MW nuclear power plant on 1313 acres acquired at Gorakhpur village in Fatehabad.

The NPCIL had acquired 187 acres more at Badopal, 8 km from Gorakhpur, for setting up the colony for its employees as well as one for the personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force.

Several blackbucks were trapped and killed in the fencing installed by the NPCIL on its colony site in September last year.

A team of scientists from the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) that conducted a survey of NPCIL’s township site at Badopal on the request of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) had recommended that the NPCIL should find an alternative site for its township and the present site should be left for blackbucks and blue bulls by converting it into a conservation reserve for them.

A petition filed by the animal rights activists against the NPCIL is pending before the National Green Tribunal, through which the petitioners have opposed any construction activity till a conservation plan for the wildlife was put in place.

At the press conference, Krishan Murti, who is already battling factionalism, said he was confident of putting up a united show at the workers’ meeting scheduled for June 27. The Chief Minister and state party chief president Ashok Tanwar will address the meeting.

AAP to redraw strategy for Assembly poll: Yogendra
Tribune News Service

Ambala, June 22
After the Lok Sabha debacle, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to redraw its strategy for the Haryana Assembly polls, which are to be held later this year. Senior party leader Yogendra Yadav today said the party leadership was holding meetings with volunteers in all districts of the state to seek their opinions on whether the party should contest the Assembly polls in Haryana and on how many seats?

Speaking to the mediapersons at the party office in Ambala, Yadav said AAP was also in the process to reorganise itself for which, ‘Mission Vistaar’ (expansion and restructuring of the party) had been launched in the state.

Reiterating that his resignation from the Delhi government was a mistake on the party’s part, Yadav said lessons were learnt and the party was now regrouping itself as a political organisation with its anti-corruption agenda being the top priority.

He claimed that there was a strong anti-Congress sentiment and the Modi government had also started disappointing the public, because of this the electorate would be inclined to vote for the AAP candidates in the Assembly polls.

Karnal, June 22
There is no progress on the project to six-lane the Panipat-Jalandhar National Highway nearly two months after the Supreme Court’s order. The apex court had set March 31, 2015, as the deadline for completing six-laning of the Panipat-Jalandhar national highway.

Soma-Isolux, the construction company undertaking the project, is learnt to be waiting for National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to fulfill two of its demands. The company had asked for shifting two toll plazas at Samanabahu (Karnal) to a place near Gharaunda and another at the Sambhu border to a place about one to two km away.

The company also wanted NHAI to defreeze its escrow account. The account, which has money collected from toll and is used for maintenance and operation, was frozen by the NHAI few months ago.

A company official said, “We have been waiting to comply with the Supreme Court order with regard to approval for shifting of toll plazas. This is yet to happen two months after the order. We have restarted construction and have opened six flyovers. The pace of work depends on the support from NHAI.”

NHAI General Manager Vipin Sharma said the bank had been asked to defreeze Soma-Isolux’s account. “As far as shifting of the toll plazas is concerned, a review petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the order,” Sharma said.

Project hangs fire

The project to six-lane the Panipat-Jalandhar National Highway began on May 2009
Soma-Isolux was to build 71 flyovers, five viaducts, eight rail overbridges, 44 underpasses & 58 pedestrian underpasses
The project was to be completed by November 11, 2011

Sirsa villagers lock powerhouse over unscheduled cuts
Sushil Manav
Tribune News Service

Sirsa, June 22
Villagers from Chakerian and Jalalana today locked the 33-kV powerhouse at Kalanwali in Sirsa and held a demonstration on Saturday against the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) over frequent power cuts.

The villagers alleged that they were getting power hardly for two hours in a day. “We have to sleep without fans. The electricity comes hardly for five to 10 minutes before the next cut,” said Gurmeet Singh, a protester.

Villagers Jagroop Singh, Iqbal Singh and Ranjit Singh alleged that the DHBVN had been denying electricity to them when they needed it the most due to paddy season.

The protesters entered the powerhouse building and threatened to switch off the power to the substation.

Power officials had to seek police intervention to pacify the agitators.

Subhash Bishnoi, SHO, Kalanwali police station, and a junior engineer (JE) of the DHBVN negotiated with the agitators. The villagers relented only after the JE gave in writing that the nigam would provide two new transformers to the villages and change old wires.

AK Bhanot, Executive Engineer of the DHBVN, said the villagers were irked at the unscheduled power cuts that the nigam had to impose due to hot weather.

“The entire system, including the transformer oil and wires, gets heated beyond the permissible limit due to hot weather. We have to close down the system periodically to prevent total breakdown,” added Bhanot.

Here to stay, says Hooda; hopeful of hat-trick
Says he enjoys the support of high command, MLAs & masses; bats for 50% tickets for youths
Bijendra Ahlawat
Tribune News Service

Faridabad, June 22
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday denied media reports of the Congress high command replacing him. Interacting with mediapersons, he said he enjoyed the support of the party high command, the MLAs and the masses and would complete his tenure without a hitch.

Hooda claimed the meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi was connected with issues of development of the state and not his replacement, as widely speculated by a section of the media.

When asked about the statements made by Rajya Sabha members Birender Singh and Shelja, criticising his style of functioning, Hooda said there may be some difference of opinion, but nothing major. “Differences between individuals are a part of the democratic set-up of any political party,” he said.

Regarding his party’s strategy for the upcoming Assembly polls later this year, he said he would continue to advocate at least 50 per cent tickets for youths. Hooda said it would be appropriate to give tickets to those who have a clean image and are high on winnability.

Reiterating he would form the government in the state for the third time in a row, he said the Assembly elections’ results would be different from the Lok Sabha polls. He claimed the BJP contested the Lok Sabha polls on the basis of an individual, rather than any policy or programme.

Hooda condemned the recent rail fares hike, stating it was the steepest in post-Independence era. He said the NDA’s tariff hike was much higher than that made by the UPA during its two terms. He said hike in transport or oil prices would result in inflation and lead to the failure of the present government, as it had come to power promising relief from price rise.

Ambala, June 22
A local court has sentenced a man to two years' jail in a cheque bounce case. The convict, Anil Rana, has been held guilty in similar cases before. Singh said the two produced forged documents on the basis of which they managed to sell him property in Prem Nagar locality here for Rs 92 lakh. After getting Rs 25 lakh as the first installment, the two went into hiding and did not turn up to get the sale deed registered in his name.

After Singh filed a police complaint, Gupta gave him a cheque for Rs 15 lakh and Rana gave three cheques for Rs 2.5 lakh each. The cheques, however, bounced.

Subsequently, Singh moved court that held Rana guilty under the Negotiable Instruments Act. Gupta is being tried separately.
