Six injured as bus, car, motorbike collide in Sec 42
Chandigarh, june 11 The mishap took place at 4.15 pm when the Haryana Roadways bus (HR 68 A 9805), which was coming from Zirakpur, hit the Alto car (PB 65 W 4818) from the rear. As a result, the Alto overturned and hit a motorcycle-borne youth. The bus, which was being driven at high speed, lost balance after hitting the car and landed on the Attawa roundabout. The driver and the conductor of the bus fled the spot fearing public wrath. A total of 6 PCR gypsies rushed to the spot, which ferried a total of 15 persons to the hospital, including two children. Three of the injured were rushed to the GMCH-32, while another 12 were rushed to the GMSH-16. The police have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the bus driver. The driver will be identified from the route register of the Haryana Roadways, said the police. PUDA patwari held
Mohali, June 11 Two more persons, Baba Anand Das and Surjit Singh, son of Balwant Singh, both residents of Kurukshetra, have been booked in the case by the police. The police said Lakhvir Chand and his accomplices had committed a fraud with PUDA by grabbing an amount of Rs 64.44 lakh (which the department had released in shape of cheque on February 21, 2012 in favour of Surjit Singh, son of Gurmail Singh, a resident of Sohana village for acquiring his land). “The accused had opened an account in name of Surjit Singh (the victim) and cashed the cheque in question. After the fraud came to light, the department lodged a police complaint in October last year,” said Inspector Manjit Singh. Lakhvir Chand was sent to seven days police remand while the other two accused are still at large.

Chandigarh, June 11 Resuming the game with the score of 51 runs for 4 wickets, Chandigarh team was bowled out for 104 runs in 35.3 overs. Amritsar’s bowlers Kamal Passi (5 for 39) and Ashwani (4 for 35) damaged Chandigarh’s batting line-up. On other hand, Naveen (22 runs) and Simranpreet (20 runs) were the main scorers for the Chandigarh team. FIFA World Cup: Children excited to watch the action
Chandigarh, June 11 Young girls and kids are all excited to watch the world cup football tournament. The sub-junior level players, who just started playing soccer and few of them played for Chandigarh in sub-junior level national championships, also stressed that they will encourage people to watch the world cup closely, in order to cheer for better future of soccer in India. “People usually get amazed, if we kick the football, like normal male players or play with male counterparts. It gives us experience to play against strong rivals. It is a wonderful game and I will encourage my known ones to watch every match,” said Anjali, who played four nationals. Her counterpart Deep Shikha seconded Anjali and mentioned that the upcoming world cup tournament is a must watch competition. “To learn, one has to understand the concept and same is the way to learn football. We usually observe our senior players developing skills and performing drills that encourage us to perform better than them. And with international players doing the same in the world cup, we would surely try to match upto their quality. At least, it would encourage our moral to learn good things about soccer” said Deepshikha. Besides local girls, parents of kindergarten kids (soccer players) also looking ahead to spot players in the upcoming tournament. Father of Nikitansh, an eight year old learner at Baichung Bhutia Football School, has specially gifted an Argentinean jersey to his son for encouraging him to play like Messi. He is unaware about the game however, being a father, I am just making sure that he get attached to game to build the initial interest.
