Delay in diagnosis, limited infrastructure behind child mortality

Researchers at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, here, in a hospital-based study, found that administrative issues like shortage of staff, ventilators, beds (due to overcrowding) and delayed recognition of diseases by parents were some leading but preventable factors responsible for the death of 107 children aged below 12 years, who died within one year.

Lok Adalat directs PSPCL to refund bill amount
Mohali, March 13
The Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services), Mohali, headed by Jagroop Singh Mahal directed respondents of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and the Sub-divisional Officer, Kharar, to refund Rs 11,420 paid by a consumer towards the bill issued by them. The decision was given holding that if a meter was installed outside the premises the consumer was not liable for theft or damage to the meter or theft of power by other persons.
