Waiver of approval for building plans, a "political stunt", says Lovely
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, March 1
Reacting on the decision of the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporations of Delhi to waive the need for approval of building plans in plots measuring up to 100 sq m, Delhi unit president of the Congress Arvinder Singh Lovely said that it was a "political stunt" of the saffron party.

"Municipal Corporations have betrayed Delhi residents by making such false announcement as it does not have power to take such decisions," said DPCC president.

Congress leader Mukesh Sharma said that before taking such decisions, Corporations have to seek amendments in Master Plan by the Union Urban Development Ministry.

"This decision was taken ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, and it is a political stunt," Sharma said.

A few days ago the Municipal Corporations had announced that people would not need to get approval of construction plans in plots measuring up to 100 sq m in the national Capital.

The owner of such plots would have to give an affidavit to the Municipal Corporations that they would follow all the municipal rules and can carry out construction without any hindrance.

"The policy of passing building plans in Delhi could be done only in accordance to the Master Plan guidelines," he said.
