New Delhi, February 8
In a major relief to small plot owners, the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporations of Delhi has decided to waive off the requirement of getting building construction plans cleared for construction at plots up to 100 sq m.
"The decision was taken after the meeting of all the municipal councillors of the BJP and those who contested on party ticket in all three corporations," said state party president Vijay Goel.
"The owners of the plot up to 100 sq m will just have to give an affidavit to the corporation that
they will follow all the municipal rules and they can do the construction without any hindrance. This will help lakhs of small plot owners in the capital," said Goel.
The meeting also decided that all three corporations will take up the issue of municipal councillors not allowed to spend the money from the councillor fund in unauthorised colonies where more than 40 lakh people live. Several councillors criticised the Delhi government for blocking this move.
"If government does not allow this, our councillors will stage a dharna. We will also go to the LG to get the permission," he said.
The Delhi BJP is planning to set up a helpline in the party office to monitor sanitation related issues to help residents in areas.
Goel said, "A committee under the chairmanship of Nand Kishore Garg will review the case of reuniting the three municipal corporations. The trifurcation done by the Congress has created more problems."
