BJP to give CWG scam proof to LG
New Delhi, January 17 Addressing a joint press conference today, the Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel, senior BJP leader Jagdish Mukhi and ex-president Delhi Vijender Gupta said, "A delegation of BJP leaders will hand over the evidence to the Lieutenant Governor, Najeeb Jung. The BJP will ask the LG to direct the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to take action against former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and others in Delhi government who were involved in various scams in the Commonwealth Games." A high-level party committee of six experts is being set up to collect and put together the evidence for mishandling and embezzlement of funds by the erstwhile Delhi government. "The BJP has been compelled to take this step after a U-turn taken by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. After taking support from Congress to form his government in Delhi, Kejriwal is singing a different tune. He is saying that he has no proof of corruption in the Commonwealth Games and the BJP should give the proof if it wants action against the corrupt Congress leaders. So we have decided to submit this evidence to the LG," he added. The Delhi government's share of the CWG bill was a massive Rs 16,560 crore on eight city projects. Both the Shunglu Committee and the CAG have reached the same conclusion after investigating the matter that the Delhi government had overspent and wasted money by creating an artificial crisis of deadlines, said the BJP leaders. They said the infrastructure developed during the Commonwealth Games is not being maintained. Roads are broken, sign boards have disappeared, stadiums are not being used. The Central Vigilance Commission had submitted a report, but the government took no action. The BJP will not let Kejriwal sit peacefully. It will launch a movement against the Chief Minister, forcing him to take action against the persons who were involved in the scam, the party leaders said. |
DJB steps to review tanker services
New Delhi, January 17 "The DJB has also taken measures to review, and if necessary, augment the number of its water hydrants at the filling point locations to maximize operational efficiency by significantly reducing the time taken between two round trips," said the official. The chief engineers and the superintending engineers of the respective areas have been requested to review all the schedules uploaded on the DJB website and ensure that the tankers are utilized in a fair, transparent and optimum manner, he said. This move will help the DJB to benchmark high levels of transparency by enabling necessary social audit. As a result of the measures taken, the number of trips being undertaken by the tankers has gone up substantially. However, in some areas, the official complained of 'bad-elements' trying to interfere with the working of the water tanker services. "Yesterday, a mob, led by anti-social elements, targeted and destroyed one mild steel water tanker and damaged another stainless steel one, providing water services to those residents with no permanent water facility. The driver of the tanker was also roughed up by the mob," he said. The matter was taken up with the police authorities and complaint was lodged. Production of potable water curtailed
