Road mishap: 2 youths killed in HP

Two local youths were killed in a road accident near Bhanghana in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.

One held for murder

The Tanda police has arrested Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, his brother Jasbir Singh and father Bishan Singh, all residents of Bollowal, for allegedly murdering Devinder Pal and assaulting his son Raman of Monak Kalan on Saturday night.

Diarrhoea outbreak: Medical check-up held
Nawanshahr, August 19
After the outbreak of diarrhoea at Majra Jattan village under Balachaur sub-division, the District Health Department organised a medical check-up today. A team of doctors comprising Dr Garja Singh, District Health Officer Dr Sunil Pathak, Dr Sandeep and Dr Neelam examined 150 patients.

Road mishap: 2 youths killed in HP

Phagwara, August 19
Two local youths were killed in a road accident near Bhanghana in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Pawan Kumar and Sat Pal of Khalwara Colony in Pandori, were returning on a bike PB-09-6318 after paying obeisance at Baba Balak Nath shrine when a pick-up van hit their motorcycle while negotiating a turn. The van driver fled from the spot after hitting the bike. The police has registered case against the van driver.

One held for murder

Hoshiarpur, August 19
The Tanda police has arrested Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, his brother Jasbir Singh and father Bishan Singh, all residents of Bollowal, for allegedly murdering Devinder Pal and assaulting his son Raman of Monak Kalan on Saturday night.

A case has been registered under sections 302, 307, 323, 324 and 34 of the IPC against the accused.

Tanda police station SHO Satinder Kumar Chadha said Devinder Pal eloped with Amarjit Singh's wife Dilpreet Kaur few months ago which enraged the culprits. Seeking vengeance, they allegedly killed Devinder Pal.

Diarrhoea outbreak: Medical check-up held

Nawanshahr, August 19
After the outbreak of diarrhoea at Majra Jattan village under Balachaur sub-division, the District Health Department organised a medical check-up today.

A team of doctors comprising Dr Garja Singh, District Health Officer Dr Sunil Pathak, Dr Sandeep and Dr Neelam examined 150 patients. A team of Public Health Department also took samples of drinking water. Civil Surgeon Dr Dharam Pal said 11 patients were admitted at the Civil Hospital, Balachaur, and their condition is improving.

He said medical check-up camps would also be organised at adjoining Nangal, Tajowal, Raipur and Paniali villages. Deputy Commissioner Tanu Kashyap reviewed the measures being taken to tackle the situation at a meeting here today and asked the officials of the Health Department to take immediate steps to check the spread of the disease.
