Iron pills: Over 42 kids fall ill in Jagadhri, Kaithal
Yamunanagar/Kaithal, August 1 More than 26 students of Government Senior Secondary, Jagadhri, fell ill after they were given iron tablets. The students complained of headache and nausea after consuming the tablets. They were immediately taken to the civil hospital and kept under observation. District education officer, who rushed to the school, defended the tablets claiming that these were meant for improving the students' health. A schoolteacher said teachers were now reluctant to administer these tablets. Four girl students of a government school in Rampur village had to be admitted to the local heath care centre after they complained of nausea following the consumption of iron tablets yesterday. Meanwhile, 12 government school students fell ill at Kasan village and four at Kithana village in the district after consuming iron pills. All 16 students were brought to Indira Gandhi Multi-Speciality Hospital here this morning for treatment. A doctor said the children, including six girls, were out of danger and recovering. The doctor said the cause of the illness could possibly be the consumption of iron pills with empty stomach on Wednesday. Iron pills were given to 45 students of whom a few fell ill after going home. They started feeling giddy and complained of stomach and headache. A few of them also started vomiting. When some of the children failed to recover till this morning, their parents informed the school authorities. The school authorities then informed the health department officials who rushed an ambulance to bring the children for treatment here. Deputy Commissioner NK Solanki said investigations indicated that the illness was the "reaction" of iron pills. A few of them might have got ill on seeing other children vomiting which usually happens in such cases. Solanki said proper care of the children was being taken and they were all recovering. He had asked the Civil Surgeon to visit the villages and give instructions to all concerned to prevent such incidents in future. He said the health department would advise the school authorities to take steps like consuming iron pills with lemon water in future and take other precautions as advised by the doctors. |

Sonepat plot led cops to book CJM for dowry death
Gurgaon, August 1 Corroborative evidence produced by Geetanjali’s family against Garg is the payment records of this plot which the family alleged was bought for Ravneet but in the name of a common friend. “We had bought this plot two years ago and paid around 16 lakh through a demand draft. To escape Income tax hassles, he had bought it in the name of a woman, a common friend who was then posted in Panipat. For two years,
the plot was in her name but just eight days before Geetanjali’s murder, Ravneet got it transferred in his name without telling her or us about it. This proves that her death was well-planned. We have submitted all details to the police along with the bills of cars we gave to him and
his brother. We hope that this will nail him in front of the CBI,” said the deceased’s father, OP Aggarwal. The family will again meet Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda seeking speedy transfer of the case to the CBI. “While the addition of the dowry death section should have speeded up the probe, the Gurgaon police has done no questioning nor taken their forensic investigation further, Whenever we call them they say they are ready with transfer papers and now only the CBI will deal with our issues,” said Geetanjali's brother, Pradeep
Aggarwal. Campaign for justice to Geetanjali Gurgaon: Geetanjali Garg’s family has started a special campaign — Geetanjali ki Goonj — to garner public support against Gurgaon CJM and Geetanjali’s husband, Ravneet Garg, whom they hold responsible for her alleged murder.
