Our Correspondent

Phagwara, May 28
The Phagwara police has booked a man for hatching a criminal conspiracy against his former wife through social networking site Facebook.

A case under Section 66A/66D,500/506 of the IPC has been registered in this regard.

Phagwara Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said the accused posted lewd comments by making his former wife's fake ID on Facebook.

The victim in her written complaint said she was married to Hemant Chowdhry of Phagwara on January 23 in 2011 but the relation between her and her-in-laws remained strained from the very beginning. She further stated that she was forced out of their house by in-laws and compelled to live with her husband in Mohali last year.

She said her husband too supported his parents as they were asking for more dowry and ultimately her husband drove her out of his house in June last year. She then filed a police complaint in Phagwara on September 24 last year.
