In-laws, husband booked for demanding dowry

The NRI police station has booked Ashish Sardana, his father Varinder Sardana and mother Sudha, all of Moti Bag, Kapurthala, under Sections 354, 406, 498-A and 34 of the IPC for allegedly torturing and maltreating Pooja Sardana, daughter of Amitabh Bhargav of Sector 3, Talwara, for not bringing dowry from her parents.

Teenaged girl abducted

Avtar Singh, a youth of Mulla Behram village, under police station Gharinda, was booked under Section 363, 366 of the IPC, for abducting a teenaged girl of Lohar village, 25 km from here.

In-laws, husband booked for demanding dowry

The NRI police station has booked Ashish Sardana, his father Varinder Sardana and mother Sudha, all of Moti Bag, Kapurthala, under Sections 354, 406, 498-A and 34 of the IPC for allegedly torturing and maltreating Pooja Sardana, daughter of Amitabh Bhargav of Sector 3, Talwara, for not bringing dowry from her parents.

According to police sources, Pooja Sardana was married to Ashish Sardana on November 13, 2011. After some time, her husband went to Canada. Her father-in-law Varinder Sardarna and mother-in-law Sudha, in connivance with her husband, were torturing and maltreating her for bringing dowry from her parents. They also demanded Rs 15 lakh and a car from her, she alleged.

Rape bid

The Chabbewal police last night booked Nona, son of Chaman Lal, and Amrinder Singh, alias Pinda, son of Joginder Pal, both of Halluwal under Sections 376 and 511 of the IPC for attempt to rape a teenaged girl of their village. The victim girl, who was studying in Class X in Government High School. The accused tried to commit the heinous when she had gone to answer the nature's call yesterday.

Suicide

Dr Ranjit Singh (35), of Pakhowal, committed suicide by jumping in front a train at the Shamchaurasi railway station on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar railway tracks today. Dr Ranjit Singh had some domestic problem due to which he committed suicide. A case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPC.

Teenaged girl abducted

Tarn Taran, May 14
Avtar Singh, a youth of Mulla Behram village, under police station Gharinda, was booked under Section 363, 366 of the IPC, for abducting a teenaged girl of Lohar village, 25 km from here.

The case had been registered last night while the girl was abducted last week. The father of the victim, in his statement to the police, said the youth had illicit relations with the girl when she was staying at Mulla Behram village, with her maternal family. The girl was called back by her parents two months ago but the youth visited her at Lohar village very often. The youth lured her into marrying him and abducted her a week ago. — OC
