4 booked for firing at musical group

The police has booked four residents of Patti town for firing at the members of a musical group. The accused have been identified as Sandip Singh, Harman Singh, Gaganjit Singh and Sandip Singh.

Migrant labourer dies in mishap
Hoshiarpur, January 29
A migrant labourer Arwinder (22), a resident of Bihar, today died on the spot when a wooden log he was carrying fell on him at a factory in Baghpur.

Mystery shrouds disappearance of two Irrigation Dept officials
Both had gone to a dera in Himachal Pradesh

Hoshiarpur, January 29
Mystery continues to shroud the disappearance of two officials of the Department of Irrigation, Talwara, who had gone to a dera in Himachal Pradesh and did not return.

Police said Madan Lal (56), the superintendent with the Power Wing of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), Talwara, and Sudhir Kumar (52), a clerk at Shah Nehar Office, Talwara, had been missing since yesterday.

A Maruti car (bearing PB-68-0429) of Madan Lal in which they went to Dera Surahiwala Baba in Himachal Pradesh was found abandoned near Shikha Hotel, Shah 
Nehar today.

The mobile phones of Madan Lal and Sudhir Kumar were also found inside the car.

Sources said Sudhir Kumar went to Madan Lal’s office last evening from where both of them they were going to pay obeisance to the Dera Surahiwala. They had told their families about this.

Thereafter, they did not contact their families. Their family members searched for them but in vain. A missing report has been filed at the Talwara police station in this regard.

4 booked for firing at musical group

Tarn Taran, January 29
The police has booked four residents of Patti town for firing at the members of a musical group. The accused have been identified as Sandip Singh, Harman Singh, Gaganjit Singh and Sandip Singh.

The police said the musical group had gone to the SGI Palace, Sangwan, 30 km from here, where the accused molested a girl member of the group while dancing.

The accused followed the group when it left after their performance and fired at their vehicle. The driver of the vehicle lost control as a result of which the vehicle turned turtle. The group members received injuries.

A case under Section 307, 354, 509, 506, 148, 149 IPC, 25, 27, 54, 59 of the Arms act has been registered against the accused who were absconding.

Migrant labourer dies in mishap

Hoshiarpur, January 29
A migrant labourer Arwinder (22), a resident of Bihar, today died on the spot when a wooden log he was carrying fell on him at a factory in Baghpur.

The police has taken his body in its custody and sent it to the local Civil Hospital for postmortem. A case under Section 174 of the CrPC has been registered in this regard. The victim’s body was later handed over to his relatives for cremation.
