A truck driver, identified as Ranjodh Singh, of Doraha was killed on the spot when his truck collided with another truck near Chiherru on the national highway today. Deep Singh, driver of the other truck, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to the local Civil Hospital.The police has registered a case under Section 304/427 of the IPC against Deep Singh.

One person was killed while three others of the same family received serious injuries when their car collided with a tractor-trailer near Mallpur village on Jalandhar-Nawanshahr-Chandigarh highway here on Friday.

In another accident, two motorcyclists, Happy and Pyara Lal, of Mehatiana village were injured when their bike was hit by a speeding vehicle near Mehatiana today. Both injured were admitted to the local Civil Hospital.The vehicle driver fled from the scene after hitting the bike, the police said.

Car catches fire

A Tata Indica car was badly damaged in a mishap when the parked car suddenly caught fire on the local Kherra Road on Sunday. Fire tenders of Phagwara Fire Brigade made hard efforts to control the fire.The exact cause of the fire could not be known. — OC

One person was killed while three others of the same family received serious injuries when their car collided with a tractor-trailer near Mallpur village on Jalandhar-Nawanshahr-Chandigarh highway here on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Davinder Kumar Pahwa, was killed on the spot while his wife Manju Pahwa and sons Gaurav Pahwa and Pankaj Pahwa received serious injuries.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital from where Gaurav was referred to DMC, Ludhiana.

The police has registered a case at sadar police station in this regard.
