Husband, in-laws booked for woman’s death

Hoshiarpur, January 7
The Tanda police yesterday booked Maninder Pal Singh, his father Darshan Singh and mother Gurmail Kaur, all the residents of Bhudass, PS Bhulath (Kapurthala) under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC.

According to the police sources, Gurjeet Kaur, daughter of Davinder Singh of Model Town (Tanda), was married to Maninder Pal Singh on September 5, 2011. The police said Gurjeet Kaur yesterday hanged herself from a ceiling fan of her house. A suicide note was also found in which she held her husband Maninder Pal Singh, who was an alleged addict, father-in-law and mother-in-law responsible for taking this extreme step. — OC

9 injured in road mishap

Nakodar, January 7
Nine persons, including two children sustained serious injuries in a collision between Tavera and a Nisaan car near Nakodar-Mehatpur road yesterday. Injured Harpreet Singh (32), Gurjit Singh (33), Mandeep Singh (25), Rajinder Singh and others were admitted in a local hospital. — OC
