University disappointed

Even as Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal called upon the Centre to provide a regular, permanent grant to Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to the varsity as the chief guest during the Golden Jubilee Convocation today did not promise any special grant/funds to the fund-crunched university.

Surprise birthday party for CM

The house of Bhagwan Singh, a local businessman, was abuzz with activity since early morning today. The reason being Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was staying there, it was his birthday and Bhagwan Singh’s family had arranged a surprise party for Badal. The Chief Minister cut his birthday cake at around 8 am at Bhagwan Singh’s house in the Civil Lines area here.

It seems that the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has turned a blind eye to the safety of residents, as the city roads are fast turning into death traps.
