JDA to issue public notice
Jalandhar, December 1 The authority, on the basis of the application and details provided, will circulate the application to the departments concerned, including forest, PPCB, PWD, PSPCL and fire, seeking their NOC and comments on the matter. The District Town Planner, who is the nodal officer for the job, will then process the applications and present these before the scrutiny committee which will then give its verdict and tell the palace owners to deposit the requisite CLU, external development charges, urban development fund and other charges within three days. All the cases have to be disposed of before December 31, said Additional Chief Administrator Sarojini Gautam Sharda. Through the application for the grant of regularisation, the JDA will be taking an undertaking from the owners that they would pay up necessary charges which would be levied by the government from time to time. The consent for abiding by the rules and regulations as per the policy would also be taken on the same application. The palace owners, on the other hand, are in a fix, as they do not know which way to go. “Heavy charges of Rs 28 lakh to Rs 40 lakh an acre fixed by the government and restrictions regarding frontal setbacks mentioned in the new policy, width of approach roads and setting up of Sewage Treatment Plant are weighing heavy on our minds,” said Prabhjot Singh Sidhu, secretary, Jalandhar Marriage Palace Association. Drama at hospital over CM’s photograph on ambulances
Jalandhar, December 1 While the Congress demanded removal of Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal’s picture from the vehicles, the SAD claims that the CM enjoys sport of masses and has deployed the vehicles for public welfare above the party lines. Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) president Vikram Chaudhary along with other congress activists on Friday had intercepted an ambulance (carrying a patient) near the main entrance of the local civil hospital. The agitators had forced the health officials to speed away from the scene after dumping the patient on the ground. A drama was witnessed at the hospital premises, right adjacent to the Trauma Centre, as the PYU members raised anti-government slogans; putting the patients and their attendant in a great inconvenience. The police then managed to control the situation following which the district administration had to shift all the ambulances to the nearby police stations for their safe custody. The protesting congressmen were then arrested and later released on bail. Taking a serious note of the incident, Jalandhar SAD (Urban) president Gurcharan Singh Channi has demanded an action against the PYU activists, including its president for disrupting essential service like ambulance carrying patients seeking registration of criminal cases against such trouble shooters. The District Congress Committee (I) Urban, president, Arun Kumar Walia, has also condemned the incident. Walia alleged that the police helped the activists in ripping apart MP’s picture. He has also demanded registration of a criminal case against the area SHO and other police personnel for illegally detaining the youth congress leaders and workers. |
