New Delhi, October 23
Six girls, including three minors, who had been forced into prostitution, were rescued from GB Road today. Two managers of the brothel were arrested, the police said. All the girls are residents of West Bengal.

The rescue operation was carried out by the officials of the Kamla Market police station with the help of a non-government organisation ‘Shakti Vahini’.

A police official said that they received information that a few girls were being forced into prostitution and they wanted to be rescued from the brothels on GB Road. The information was developed and it was found that the girls were confined to brothel number 59, said the official.

“It was revealed that there are a few minor girls in ‘kotha’ number 59, GB Road, who have been forced into prostitution and if a raid is conducted, these girls could be rescued,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastav, Additional Commissioner of Police (Central).

The raid was conducted about 7 pm at the place and six girls out of whom three are believed to be minors have been rescued. The managers of the brothel, Hasina and Maya, were arrested in the case, the police said.

A case was registered at the Kamla Market police station. “The girls belong to poor families. They were brought to Delhi on the pretext of providing them with jobs, but forced into the flesh trade,” the official added.
