Sukhbir's political appointees quit
: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has decided not to have any political appointees working with him in official capacity for the time being. His political secretary Paramjeet Singh Sidhwan and three officers on special duty, including Charanjeet Singh Brar, Avtar Singh and Gurvinder Singh, have tendered their resignations from their respective posts. 

Malout
1 hurt in firing at wedding
: A youth was seriously injured when a middle-aged man dancing during a wedding ceremony at Baam village in Malout opened fire from his licensed weapon on Sunday. The police said the bullet hit Gurmeet Singh on his neck. Though the accused was yet to be arrested, he had been identified as Jaswinder Singh of Harike Kalan village, said Paramjit Singh, SHO of Malout Sadar police station. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act. 

Patiala
Associate banks officers’ union poll
: The group led by Parmod Sharma has registered a massive victory in the elections for the Associate Banks Officers’ Association Unit of State Bank of Patiala by winning all 61 posts. The elections were held after 18 years and the results were declared on Tuesday. Of the 61 posts, five posts were central posts, eight of zonal secretaries and 48 of the central council. It was a bilateral contest between Parmod Sharma and Chaman Singla groups.

Sangrur
Sangrur women make presence felt
: Products manufactured by poor women of Sangrur villages were displayed and sold at the New York International Gift Fair that concluded in New York recently. The products were manufactured by women members of self-help groups of a ocal NGO Umeed Foundation's Social and Economic Development Centre. The foundation chairman, in a statement, said the products had been showcased under the section "Artisan Resource". This section was the first-of-its-kind artisan production-sourcing event for US-based importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers, he said.
