Woman’s body found in sack
New Delhi, October 18
The decomposed body of a woman was found in a plastic sack near a dustbin in Bharat Nagar, north-west Delhi, this morning, said the police. According to the police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim, about 25-year old, was dumped here after being murdered somewhere else and now the police is checking the missing persons' list of the nearby areas. There is a tattoo on woman's left forearm which read ''Bharat & Devi''.

Three die in road mishaps
New Delhi, October 18
Three persons, including an eight-year-old boy, lost their lives in separate road incidents in the capital in the last 24 hours, said the police. The first incident occurred in Jahangirpur, north-west Delhi, this morning. A 20-year-old boy, Akash, who was a student of Hamidpur College, IP University, was killed after his motorcycle was hit by an over speeding Haryana roadways bus from behind near Mukundpur traffic signal.

DUTA holds ‘barefoot’ march
New Delhi, October 18
Alongside the continuation of the Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) relay hunger strike on the 11th day today, hundreds of students, karamcharis and teachers took to the streets of the North Campus in the evening on a "barefoot march".

Woman’s body found in sack

The decomposed body of a woman was found in a plastic sack near a dustbin in Bharat Nagar, north-west Delhi, this morning, said the police.

According to the police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim, about 25-year old, was dumped here after being murdered somewhere else and now the police is checking the missing persons' list of the nearby areas. There is a tattoo on woman's left forearm which read ''Bharat & Devi''.

"Around 8.40 am a rag picker found a human body in a plastic sack lying near the dustbin ," said a senior police official. The rag picker informed the residents of the area who then called at police control room. "It appears that the accused dumped the body here to mislead the investigators," said P. Karunakaran, DCP.

The body has been sent to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital for postmortem to ascertain that she was sexually assaulted.

During investigation, it was allegedly revealed that some injury marks were found on her neck. The police is taking the help of the ZIP Net to identify the victim. The picture of the victim has been sent to all the police stations.

Three die in road mishaps

Three persons, including an eight-year-old boy, lost their lives in separate road incidents in the capital in the last 24 hours, said the police.

The first incident occurred in Jahangirpur, north-west Delhi, this morning. A 20-year-old boy, Akash, who was a student of Hamidpur College, IP University, was killed after his motorcycle was hit by an over speeding Haryana roadways bus from behind near Mukundpur traffic signal.

Akash, a resident of Yamuna Vihar, died on the spot, while driver of the bus managed to flee the spot. The body was shifted to hospital and was handed over to the family after postmortem, said a police official.

In second incident, that took place in Chandini Chowk, an eight-year-old boy was crushed to death by an over speeding truck last night. "The incident occurred around 10.40 pm, when Zahid was travelling along with his family members on a rickshaw in Hauz Qazi, Old Delhi," said a police official.

The police said that an over speeding truck hit the rickshaw from the behind. The rickshaw turned turtle and Zahid came under the tyre of the truck and died on the spot. Truck driver Mohammad Kalam Ansari was arrested from the spot.

The third incident took place in Vasant Kunj (South), south Delhi, when a speeding water tanker turned turtle due to tyre burst and its driver unable to jump out to save his life. He was crushed to death under the vehicle.

"The 35-years-old driver, Ranjan Yadav, was coming from Dwarka and had to reach Fatehpur Beri. The incident occurred on way near Nelson Mandela Marg in south Delhi around 4.15 pm today," the official added.

DUTA holds ‘barefoot’ march

New Delhi, October 18
Alongside the continuation of the Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) relay hunger strike on the 11th day today, hundreds of students, karamcharis and teachers took to the streets of the North Campus in the evening on a "barefoot march". 

The march was held against the "pseudo-reform agenda of the HRD Ministry that would slowly deny the Right to Education to the economically weaker sections through privatisation and commercialisation as well as on the recent attacks on the democratic right to protest in the university. — TNS
