NRI's 'kara' snatched
Phagwara, September 27
In a daring snatching incident, two unidentified armed motorcyclists robbers snatched a 3-tola gold "kara" from an NRI Mahinderpal Singh in Hargobind Nagar at 6.30 am today. The victim was returning home after morning walk, when the miscreants struck. The police has registered a case.

Snatcher arrested

The police here today nabbed a snatcher, identified as Kulwant Singh, of Khankhana village. He was fleeing after snatching the earrings of a woman Gurdev Rani near the bus-stand in the afternoon.

Three killed, 4 injured in road mishaps
Nawanshahr, September 27
Three persons, Sagar Deewan, Raj Kumar and Manjit Kaur, were killed on the spot and four persons, Sahil Arora, Sahil Kapila, Sahib and Bimla Devi, were injured in two separate road mishaps here.

In a daring snatching incident, two unidentified armed motorcyclists robbers snatched a 3-tola gold "kara" from an NRI Mahinderpal Singh in Hargobind Nagar at 6.30 am today. The victim was returning home after morning walk, when the miscreants struck. The police has registered a case.

In another incident, the house of one Phagwara resident Bharpur Singh was reportedly burgled in the local Onkar Nagar in broad daylight here today. The burglars took away Rs 55,000 and 3 tolas of gold ornaments. The police has registered a case.

Snatcher arrested

Phagwara,September 27
The police here today nabbed a snatcher, identified as Kulwant Singh, of Khankhana village. He was fleeing after snatching the earrings of a woman Gurdev Rani near the bus-stand in the afternoon.

The Superintendent of Police Phagwara said the woman was returning to her Bhagatpura house, when the snatcher struck and snatched her earrings. However, a police patrol party chased him and succeeded to arrest him. A case was registered. — TNS

Three killed, 4 injured in road mishaps

Nawanshahr, September 27
Three persons, Sagar Deewan, Raj Kumar and Manjit Kaur, were killed on the spot and four persons, Sahil Arora, Sahil Kapila, Sahib and Bimla Devi, were injured in two separate road mishaps here.

Sagar Deewan (19), along with his friends, Sahil Arora, Sahil Kapila and Sahib, were returning home in a Swift car from a birthday party late in the evening on Wednesday. When they reached near Industrial Focal Point situated on the Jalandhar-Nawanshahr-Chandigarh highway at about 10.30 pm, their speeding car reportedly overturned and rammed into a nearby wall, killing Sagar on the spot, while three other youths received severe injuries. They were admitted to a private hospital here.

In another road accident on the Nawanshahr-Phillaur road, Raj Kumar who was coming on his scooter from Aur to Nawanshahr, was hit by a speeding car from behind. The car, after hitting Raj Kumar, also hit two women, Manjit Kaur and Bimla Devi, on the road. Raj Kumar and Manjit Kaur were killed on the spot and Bimla Devi received serious injuries. She was admitted to Civil Hospital.
