Cricket tourney kicks off

Jalandhar, September 24
The Bhai Gobind Singh Pasricha Memorial 13th Inter-School Cricket Tournament kicked off at MGN Public School here today.

The opening match of the tournament, as scheduled, was played between BCM Arya Model School and Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar.

Priyank Bharti, Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, declared the tournament open by releasing colourful balloons.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Surinder Singh, Sports Officer, RCF, Kapurthala.

The match was scheduled for 20 overs. Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar, won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 152 runs at the loss of nine wickets and set a target of 153 runs for BCM Arya Model School, Ludhiana.

BCM Arya Model School, Ludhiana, scored 134 runs at the loss of nine wickets. The match was won by Spring Dale Senior School, Amritsar. Atinder Singh from the same school was declared as the man of the match.

The second match of the day was played between Kundan Vidya Mandir, Ludhiana, and YPS, Mohali. In this match, Kundan Vidya Mandir, Ludhiana, beat YPS, Mohali, by 21 runs. Nimit of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Mohali, was declared man of the match.

S. Jarnail Singh Pasricha, patron, Organising Committee, S. Gurmohan Singh, S. Gurpreet Singh, trustees, Ramneek Singh Kalra and principal Satwant Gakhal among others were also present on the occasion.
