CPI, CPM hold protest Tarn Taran, September 12 Tara Singh Khehra and Devinderjit Singh Dhillon, district secretaries of the CPI and CPM, while addressing the workers at the dharna site at the DC office, condemned the state government for imposing taxes worth Rs 900 crore despite presenting a tax-free budget in the
Vidhan Sabha. The party leaders demanded the rollback of the taxes imposed on the already burdened people of the state. Women leaders, including Kiranbir Kaur Valtoha, Rajinderpal Kaur, of the Left parties, too, spoke on the occasion. |

Medicine trader looted of Rs
2.5 lakh Jalandhar, September 12 He said when he protested the move, the miscreants threatened him of dire consequences. The miscreants forcibly took away Rs 2.5 lakh, six gram gold, one kg silver, two mobile phones, a television, one pistol and documents of his car. The victim said when he went to file a complaint before the Kartarpur police, his complaint was not entertained as the police claimed that the area where the incident had occurred was not in their jurisdiction. An official at Kartarpur police station said the case could not be registered at their police station as the spot of the crime did not fall in their jurisdiction. |
