Email account of IAS trainee hacked
Ajay Ramola
Mussoorie, August 28 According to police sources, Vikram Singh, Superintendent, Training II, of the academy has filed an FIR. It has been claimed in the FIR that someone hacked the email account of one of the probationers and circulated a mail in the academy. The police has started investigation and a case has been registered under Section 67 of the IT Act. The Station Officer, Doon Cantt Kotwali, Awal Singh Rawat has been assigned the task to find out the accused who uploaded the obscene content onto the home journal of the academy and circulated the controversial mail. The academy officials claimed that the email account of an IAS probationer was hacked and was used to send an obscene and controversial mail. It is worth mentioning that on August 14 an obscene and controversial email describing the sexual escapades of officer trainees in the academy and training in Singapore was circulated from the account of an IAS probationer. Although the officials are tight-lipped on the issue, sources reveal that the email has led to a major uproar in the academy as it amounted to a major security breach. Many believe that the hacking of the email account of an officer trainee could become a major security issue. It could lead to leaking of several important documents regarding the training at the academy, which is often visited by political and administrative dignitaries every year. The SSP, Dehradun, Neeru Garg, told mediapersons that the Special Task Force had also been called in for further investigation in the cyber crime case. |
MC wants restarting of stalled hydropower projects
Mussoorie, August 28 It was also decided at the meeting that the support of other local bodies will be solicited in this regard and a joint memorandum submitted to the government at the Centre. In addition to this, the members also demanded from the government to make an effort to provide electricity to the remote villages in the state. The proposal of using 50 per cent of the amount collected under eco fee for only the purpose of saving environment was also passed unanimously. It was decided that the remaining 50 will be used for the safety and security of tourists and salaries for the staff manning the barriers where eco fee was collected. The proposal of naming the crossroad, near library, in the name of BR Ambedkar was also discussed at the meeting. MC president OP Uniyal informed the members that the Hawaghar at the crossroad would be renovated and would be known as BR Ambedkar Chowk in the near future. OP Uniyal also directed officials to forfeit the earnest amount of those contractors who had not begun the development work assigned to them till now. The members also raised the issue of exorbitant bill amounting to around Rs 46 lakh tendered by the contractor for constructing around six murals in the town. The president directed the officials to pay the amount only after making a technical assessment of the whole project. Ward member Virendar Rawat opposed the policy being adopted for the formation of subcommittees in the council. He alleged that the president at the behest of some of the members was trying to sabotage the council by naming only those ward members who were close to him as committee president. He demanded that the committees should be formed only after holding elections among the ward members as per the guidelines of the council. However, some ward members opposed the proposal and said that Virendar Rawat was raking the issue unnecessarily. Following opposition by the members, the decision of forming the committees has been put on hold. It was decided to curb the menace of stray dogs and wild monkeys in the town by taking assistance of the Veterinary Department. A sterilisation programme would be launched to keep control over the number of stray dogs in the town. Ward members Manmohan Singh, Rajwant Rawat, Ramesh Bhandari, Dinesh Badoni, RK Singh and others were also present on the occasion. |

My music is a blend of North, South: Sitarist Shubendra Rao
Dehradun, August 28 “Still a child, I was exposed to Carnatic music as it was frequently played in our house and was the most natural thing to learn. But under Pandit Ravi Shankar, I learnt to be receptive to everything, and my music is a blend of the Hindustani classical music of the North and Carnatic music of the South,” said Rao, while speaking with The Tribune. Just as performing at concerts with interactive sessions allows Rao to reach out to his audience, he is also planning to explore the concept of silence through his music. “Along with my wife, we are set to revive the concept of silence so that the audience gets to connect to the purest form of music. I believe music is for enriching the soul and not exciting the senses. With no words shared, we would like to reach our audience through music and only music, and we plan to do the show in the middle of September in New Delhi and also in other places,” he said. Of the many influences in his life, Shubendra Rao, the years spent under the tutelage of his guru and sitar maestro Ravi Shankar were emblematic and left a deep impact on him. To that end he has given in to the temptation to experiment and explore whenever there has been an opportunity. “I love to flow with the tide and make myself richer by keeping myself receptive to different genres. By being receptive to outside influences, you can understand your music better. It can be an enriching experience,” he added. Comparing Indian classical music to life, Shubendra Rao says it is an extension of life and as one mellows, so does the music, “There are no shortcuts, no half breaks, but a steady flow. But when young, one may be eager to display one’s virtuosity, but as one matures in life, there is this sudden tempering of music. I think the musicians reach their best between 45-65 years of age,” he added. As part of the Spicmacay concert, Rao today performed at CNI Boys' Inter College and Shri Guru Nanak Public Boys' Inter College. |
