Intruder nabbed:
An intruder loitering near the Integrated Check Post (ICP) was caught by alert Border Security Force jawans yesterday. He was handed over to the Gharinda police. A case was registered against him on the statement of the Deputy Commandant, 154 Battalion, FC Chauhan. The intruder identified himself as Kapludin (55) of Lehri Express, Karachi. “He has a Bengali accent. He says he does not know how he entered Indian territory as he had gone to Lahore in search of his lost son,” said BSF sources.

FARIDABAD
Judicial custody:
A person charged with raping a minor girl at Fatehpur Taga village in this district and keeping her in illegal detention was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a local court on Thursday. The accused is identified as Iran, a resident of Madalpur village, close to Fatehpur Taga.

JHAJJAR
4 criminals held:
Acting on a tip-off, the Jhajjar police has succeeded in nabbing four criminals after a brief encounter near Badli village on the Jhajjar-Delhi Road here on Thursday. The police has also recovered three pistols and nine live cartridges from their possession. Devender Dangi, PRO of the Jhajjar police, said those arrested included Satyavaan, Dheeraj, alias Neeraj, alias Dhanda, all residents of Badli village, and Amit and Krishan of Ishwar Colony in Buwana village here.

KURUKSHETRA
17 booked:
The police has registered a case against as many as 17 persons, all residents of Ladwa, 20 km from here, for allegedly carving a private colony without prior permission of Kurukshetra Country and Town Planner Vimal Singh.

REWARI
Women robbed:
Two motorcycle-borne youths, who were armed with knives, looted earrings and a gold chain from Kailash Devi in Rajiv Nagar and Sheila Devi in Sector 4 here in succession on Thursday. Both the women, who sustained serious injuries after they were stabbed with knives by the miscreants, were hospitalised here. They decamped with the booty.

Jammu
2 held with liquor:
The Kathua police has seized illegal liquor and has arrested two persons in this connection. Reports said the police had set up a naka on the Sarthali road near Bani and apprehended two persons - Darshan Singh of Sitti Morha, Kot Fagolata, Bani, and Mohammad Qasim of Sarthali. During search, the police seized 250 ml of JK excise liquor from their possession.

Rajouri
Newborn’s body found:
The body of a newborn baby was recovered from a bank of the Santal river in the Dral area of Rajouri district today. Some passers-by saw the body and informed the police. The police has shifted the body to a local hospital for a postmortem. A case has been registered.

Bodies found in rivers:
A body was found in the Tons river behind the Cantonment area today. In another incident, a body was found in a river near Vikasnagar. Both the deceased are yet to be identified.

Mussoorie
Body found:
The body of Tulsi Bahadur, 54, a resident of Mata Mandir at Hathipaon, was found lying in a 15-metre deep nullah surrounded by bushes near Mussoorie yesterday. According to police sources, Tulsi Bahadur, who worked as a gatekeeper in a guest house, had gone missing on August 14. The police says Tulsi died due a heavy consumption of liquor.
