Draftsmen of all the departments from all over the state gheraoed the residence of Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, at Kairon village, 18 kms from here today.

The draftsmen demanded pay at par with junior engineers as per the recommendations of the first, second, third and fourth pay commission reports. The draftsmen agitating under the banner of the Technical Draftsman Association, Punjab.

Rakesh Kumar Bajaj, state president of the Association, warned the state government they would also gherao the residence of ministers Tikshan Sud and Dr Opinderjit Kaur in case their demands were not fulfilled. These ministers were also the members of sub-committee formed to redress the grievances of employees. The association presented a memorandum to Khushwinder Singh Bhatia, member, SGPC, representative of Kairon.
