Law and order seems to have no relevance on the Panjab University (PU) campus because not even a single offender has been convicted in any of the 56 criminal cases registered against student leaders for indulging in violence on the campus over the past 10 years.

Rajpal gets Arjuna Award

It was a joyous moment for the family of local hockey star Rajpal Singh, as he was bestowed with the Arjuna Award here today.
“It was a proud moment for us,” said the mother of ace hockey player after she heard the news of his son getting the highest award in the world of Indian sports.
47 structures razed
Mohali, July 22
The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) today demolished 47 illegal structures at Lambian village amid protest by shopkeepers.
The enforcement staff led by estate officer Balbir Singh prevailed over the protestors and the drive continued for two hours.

Panchkula MC raps contractor
Panchkula, July 22
Failure of a contractor to start work of repairing and recarpeting roads has cost him dear as the Panchkula Municipal Council has terminated his contract.
The MC had allotted the work to the contractor in December 2010, but roads in the town were still in poor condition.

PIL filed against cattle menace

Seeking directions to the UT Administration, the Municipal Corporation and also to the UT police, to take all necessary steps to effectively deal with stray cattle menace, a Panchkula-based couple filed public interest litigation in the Chandigarh district court here today. Similar kind of application was also filed in the Panchkula court by the same couple in which they sought directions to the Panchkula administration, MC and the police department.
