3 convicted of impersonating cop to gain pension
Chandigarh, October 20
A CBI special court presided over by Darshan Singh today convicted Balbir Singh Nagpal and Raj Kumar Gupta, employed as senior accounts officer and assistant accounts officer, respectively, in the Haryana advocate general’s office of criminal impersonation in a pension case. Another suspect in the case, Tarjinder Singh, died earlier this month.

Festive season: Gambling dens come to life

CBI detects favouritism, flouting of norms

A special crime branch team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has scrutinised records related to the recent in-house promotions and recruitments of firemen in the Fire And Emergency Department of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. Highly placed sources in the CBI stated that it had detected favoritism by senior officials, as they had flouted norms of the fire policy in the recent recruitments and promotions.
